Description
Daiwa 25 Saltiga 300 Jigging Reel – 10kg Drag, 6.3:1, Right Hand, Spool Lock & Level Wind
The Daiwa 25 Saltiga 300 is a compact, level-wind jigging reel built for light and nearshore jigging from boats. Jigging all day is hard on both angler and reel. Line piles up unevenly while you focus on the jig, salt creeps into the gears, and a sudden snag can strain the gearbox. The Saltiga 300 deals with each of these. Its Synchro level wind lays line evenly for you, and Daiwa’s HyperDrive Design keeps the gears aligned and smooth under load. Anode protection plus Magsealed and corrosion-resistant bearings fight saltwater damage. It’s also the first Daiwa level-wind reel with a spool lock, which protects the gears when you’re snagged. With 10kg of ATD drag, 86cm of line per turn and room for 400m of PE 2, this right-hand 6.3:1 model is ready for tuna, amberjack and other hard-fighting fish. Order yours from Fishingmonk.
Features
- HyperDrive Design: Larger-tooth HyperDrive gears, double pinion support, a rigid armed housing and a tough clutch work together for smooth, powerful cranking that lasts.
- Spool lock: It locks the spool when you’re snagged, so you can break off without putting load through the gears. Daiwa says this is a first on its level-wind reels.
- Synchro Level Wind: Line goes on evenly without you guiding it, so you can concentrate on working the jig and fighting the fish.
- Anode protection: A zinc anode plate takes the corrosion so the reel’s internals don’t, which is important for a reel that lives in salt spray.
- Magsealed and CRBB bearings: 1 Magsealed and 10 corrosion-resistant bearings keep salt water out and rotation smooth over time.
- Carbon ATD drag, 10kg (22 lb): Smooth, consistent drag with a clicker, so you hear when a fish takes line.
- Thumb-holding tapered frame: Your thumb sits securely on the frame, which reduces fatigue over long jigging sessions.
- Adjustable 75–85mm aluminium handle with 85mm T-knob: Set the handle length to suit your jigging rhythm, with plenty of grip for power cranking.
- 6.3:1 gear, 86cm per turn: A balance of cranking power and line pickup suited to steady jigging cadences.

Ideal use cases
- Light and super-light jigging nearshore: It’s built for this, and works best down to roughly 90–120m (300–400 ft).
- Strong current: Daiwa designed it for fast-current jigging grounds, and the HyperDrive gears stay smooth under heavy load.
- Tuna, amberjack and other hard-fighting pelagics: Retailers name these targets for coastal jigging with this reel.
- Snag-prone reef and wreck jigging: The spool lock protects the gears when you have to break off.
- Occasional slow pitch jigging: It can do it, but dedicated slow-pitch anglers often prefer non-level-wind reels.
- Braid setups with PE 1.5–3: Use a fluorocarbon leader of around 25–40lb for light jigging.
- Intermediate to experienced jigging anglers: Pair it with a light jigging rod rated for your jig weights.
