Description
Shimano Saragosa SW A 14000XG Saltwater Spinning Reel – 15 kg Drag, 6.2:1 Gear, PE 6–8
The Shimano Saragosa SW A 14000XG is a heavy-duty saltwater spinning reel for anglers who cast poppers and stickbaits at big, hard-fighting fish. It gives you up to 15 kg of drag, a fast 6.2:1 gear ratio that recovers 134 cm of line per turn, and room for 300 m of PE6 braid. That makes it a good match for PE 6–8 topwater rods. The body and gears are Shimano HAGANE metal, so the reel stays rigid and the gears stay aligned under heavy load. X-Protect sealing helps keep salt water out of the main parts. At 700 g, it's a practical choice for Indian anglers fishing offshore, from rocks or on island trips who want Shimano's proven heavy-saltwater design without moving up to flagship prices.
Key features
- 15 kg (33 lb) max drag: Enough stopping power to turn strong fish away from reefs and structure.
- 6.2:1 extra-high gear (134 cm per turn): Fast line pickup for working topwater lures and taking up slack quickly when a fish runs at the boat.
- Infinity Drive: Shimano's drive system for more winding power when you're reeling under heavy load.
- HAGANE Body: A rigid metal body that resists flexing, so the gears stay aligned during long fights.
- HAGANE Gear: Precision-cut gearing for smooth, strong cranking and long service life.
- X-Ship: The pinion gear is supported by bearings at both ends, which keeps the gears meshing properly under pressure.
- X-Protect: A water-resistant sealing system that protects key internal parts from saltwater spray.
- Cross Carbon Drag: A carbon drag system with a wide, smooth adjustment range.
- One-piece bail: A smooth bail with no line-catching joint, which helps cut down on tangles when casting braid.

Ideal use cases
- Topwater casting with poppers and stickbaits. It is sold in PE 6–8 topwater combos, and the fast 6.2:1 retrieve suits working surface lures.
- Offshore and island saltwater fishing. The 15 kg drag and PE8 capacity suit big pelagic fish such as trevally and tuna-class fish.
- Rock and ledge fishing for strong fish. The rigid HAGANE body and high drag help you stop fish before they reach structure.
- Anglers stepping up from 8000–10000 size reels. It handles heavier line and bigger lures in a 700 g package.
- Experienced anglers. A 14000-size reel with 15 kg drag needs a matching heavy rod and some experience setting drag. It's not a beginner reel.
- Not ideal for: light estuary fishing, inland freshwater fishing or light lure fishing. It's too large and heavy for those.
